Baby Elephant found human heroes to save him from Hakka Patas Trap
“Hakka patas” is one of the most dangerous and inhumane weapons invented to kill wild animals that roam close to villagers. It is a mixture of explosive matter, iron and lead made into a ball-shaped charge. It is easily hidden inside large vegetables and fruits as a ”Hakka patas” explosive mixture. Many animals that move into raid crops get caught with this trap and dies. The government and wildlife officers have always asked with kind words to refrain from using such cowardly methods to harm wild animals and their lives. Even such wild animals have the right to live in this world as much as humans do. Circle of life can be cruel. But we must safeguard all sorts of animals to ensure their survival. Especially these wild elephants as their population are at a decline.
Baby Elephant found human heroes to save him from Hakka Patas Trap-Sri Lankan elephants are known as the most majestic and the largest among the Asian elephant species. They are connected to the Sinhalese history and Buddhism in many ways over the centuries that have passed. The island knows their true value as they have categorized elephants as a national treasure.
This baby elephant calf is also another unfortunate victim to one of those deadly traps set by a wicked and heartless people who live among many villages. Luckily wildlife officers found this elephant calf at a very early stage through its wounds. Wildlife officers quickly took this calf into one of their camps with friendly cages to heal this elephant from Hakka patas injuries.
The elephant calf was very calm throughout the medical procedures. The wildlife officers and vets took great care of this young giant by treating its wounds well. This young elephant needs to be fed with food until its wounds are healed. This young elephant would have died if no one spotted this elephant as they require a lot of food every day.
It is a must to stand up against these inhuman practices at all costs to preserve these wildlife animals for our future generations to come. We hope that our government will take more steps and implement many more laws against these hunters and trappers. Can you imagine about a person that hides traps inside food? You should never harm anyone when they are eating. We hope to see these wrongdoers punished as soon as possible.
