The beautiful island of Sri Lanka is full of Elephants that roam the streets and through village areas freely in many regions of the country. There are several thousands of them that are taken care of by the wildlife department and the loving citizens of the island. Most educated in the country are continually fighting corruption, and animal abuse, especially towards the treasures that elephants are to the state as Sri Lankan elephants are known as the largest and the strongest among Asian elephants.

However, around farming villages where elephants raid crops, many conflicts are happening that have caused casualties to both sides. They have set a lot of fences and electric fences with barriers around many villages and farmlands around national parks and many massive forest reserves. These elephants often run into traps and wells placed along with farms for water supply.

This situation happened when this baby elephant and the mother elephant left their natural habitat seeking an adventure towards farming fields to eventually to fall into farming well, which has become a muddy mess. They have been stuck in there for a day, and the villagers discovered as they arrived at this site for farming activities and also when they started making noises crying for help.

Villagers quickly informed the wildlife department of  Sri Lanka to assist with this situation and the department officers arrived swiftly at the scene with some logistics support from businesses around. They had to start this operation with the limited support they had, and it was a pretty tough one. These officers had to dig a path out using a caterpillar, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience for two elephants as they had some small rocks fall on them from above. Watch the full footage and find out how they managed to save these two elephants so they could rush back to their natural habitats with a valuable lesson that they will never forget.
