A DAM TRIED TO SWALLOW AN ELEPHANT, HUMANS SAID OTHERWISE.
Sri Lanka is an island full of canal networks that provide water resources to the local agricultural activities. With a population close to 20 million, Sri Lanka still manages to have an exceptional amount of land area over different parts of the island for natural wildlife and preserved ecosystems.
A DAM TRIES TO SWALLOW AN ELEPHANT, HUMANS SAID OTHERWISE. Sri Lankan elephants need no introduction. Being the largest among Asian elephants, they are well respected, loved and protected by many even when they pose threats towards human villages as they are allowed to roam so freely without any limitations in the island.
This Sri Lankan, the giant Asian elephant is a wanderer that moves across regions looking for new water sources as an adventure it seeks. Unfortunately, little did this giant new about the circumstances that it would have to face if he moves into the depths of the canal. Many of these giant elephants wouldn’t be able to lift their weight when climbing slopes at high angles. The giant is stuck on this deadly canal with high pressure during the rainy seasons in the island.
The elephant is crying and struggling to get some help from the compassionate citizens in the area. In Sri Lanka, these elephants receive top priority on their protection and survival towards population growth.
As seen in the video, the elephant is struggling to hold on to the rope used by helping humans to keep the elephant away from the floodgates. The elephant fails to hold on to the line with its trunk and gets stuck between the gates of the canal.
Concerned civilians and the wildlife authorities are here to save the elephant, considering like its one of their children that are drowning in water. It is incredibly challenging to halt an elephant being washed away by such high levels of water pressure even with the use of heavy vehicles.
This operation went on for a while until they were able to get this tired and struggling giant to climb out of the canal. It is incredible how every human being that gathered around wanted to save this elephant so severely. The value given to these endangered species is beyond imaginable and requires humanity and its cooperation for survival.
